Pharmaceutical company – Project Management

Context
A part of the world’s largest pharmaceutical company enjoys an international reputation for pharmaceutical innovation and quality. The client wanted to develop and implement one single laboratory management system across the client’s sites around the world.

Need
The client asked Quasus to provide a project manager to work on project and portfolio management, acting as a member of the client’s project leadership team.

Solution
Quasus assigned an experienced project manager, who became responsible for the project and portfolio management and project planning, including resource allocation. The Quasus project manager reported to the project team, the steering committee and key stakeholders. Furthermore, he coordinated a project to integrate chromatographic tests and worksheet creation into the core lab management system. Here the Quasus project manager collected system metrics, analysed and interpreted these metrics to compare the actual figures with the predicted benefit figures of the initial project cost appropriation. Quasus was also involved in the analysis and design of an integrated system to execute chromatographic tests and create lab worksheets. As far as the implementation of the system was concerned, Quasus managed the preparation, system implementation and impact assessments for the sites within project scope, including the hands-on transition to the new system and on-site and off-site support during site go-live. Quasus took care of the communication with the site management, meeting structures, newsletters and updated the website for each project phase. Quasus put considerable emphasis on change management for the people working on the sites within scope, providing clear communication between different project teams.

Benefits
The requested solution has been fully implemented. All sites have gone live on time, on budget and with required functionality. The client’s projects were successfully managed and the new system was implemented timely at the sites within project scope. The client benefits also from the test process which was implemented with the project and was able to align software development to development cycles.
