Public Transportation company – Change Management

Context
The customer is a large Belgian public transportation company. An internal audit indicated that the client’s ICT department had to change in order to continue providing best services to their clients, both internal as external. Consequently, the client completed an assessment of its testing process. This pointed out that there were several areas for improvement within the IT organisation. A roadmap with 30 improvement propositions was made.

Need
The company was looking for a change manager to guide the ICT department through the roadmap.

Solution
Quasus guided the change process and this included minimizing resistance to change and keeping in mind the personal experience of each individual. The Quasus change manager organized several workshops  and  new templates were introduced for the software development process. Quasus assisted in defining requirements and business processes, both current and future. The 30 improvement propositions were elaborated in detail.

Benefits
The client’s back-log of ICT projects was reduced substantially. Secondly, ICT-business alignment was improved by introducing new ways of communication and agreements between both parties. The changes were implemented with better acceptance by the people involved and continuity of the changes was assured.

Telecom company – BPM

Context
This telecom company provides services in several technology-driven markets characterized by a strong competition. As a consequence, continuous system improvements and short time-to-market are crucial to stay ahead of the competitors.

Need
Since the situation was deteriorating, this telecom company contacted Quasus to conduct an assessment of the current testing and release process in order to make it more efficient.

Solution
We started with an identification of the current situation (AS-IS) by conducting:
* 30 stakeholder interviews and questionnaires (change management)
* a document review.

Then we analyzed the findings (list of +/- 400 pains) and based on our experience, 50 improvement propositions were elaborated. During analysis focus was not limited to the testing activities, but covered the whole release cycle process. We drew-up an implementation plan, containing quick-wins, milestones, recommendations, etc. Templates were provided to start off initial improvements. Finally a business case was developed, stating savings up to € 200.000,- per year are in reach.

Client benefits
Quasus offered this telecom company a proven approach based on solid experiences in this industry, leading to significant cost savings, a shorter time-to-market and higher quality. During the assessment, a lot of attention was given to the change management aspect, leading to easier acceptance by the parties involved.

Leading Belgian Bank – Tailor-made Training

Context
A leading bank in Belgium is reorganising its software testing approach and wanted to work with competence centres, so skills and knowledge are centralized and easier to manage. In order to start with this competence centre, knowledge and methodology must be aligned with respect to the centre.

Need
A uniform and clear approach on Risk Based Testing was asked; theoretical approach, methodologies and exercises were requested.

Solution
Quasus offers an in-house developed Risk Based Testing Training which was proposed to the customer. The customer asked if it was possible to provide a tailor-made customisation based on the original course, with exercises linked to their specific business field. Quasus estimated an x-day customization process on-site with the client and was hired to instruct this course to over 60 people. After a number of trainings, both training and trainer were evaluated. The training was adjusted to the feedback provided.

Benefits
Quasus offered the client a clear training for a specific group within the company, meeting the different training requirements as asked for by the customer. Quasus delivered an experienced trainer for the extensive training program which resulted in an improved and aligned organization.
